HSE Changes

On the 1st October 2013 the HSE radically changed the accreditation of training organisations for First Aid at Work Training. The HSE will no longer be responsible for directly approving or accrediting training organisations, instead an employer will be responsible for verifying the credibility of a trainer or training organisation. A copy of the new regulations can be found here.

However in order for some semblance of control over the standards provided, Ofqual has appointed new ‘Awarding Organisations’ who have taken up the responsibility of accrediting trainers and providing organisations as ‘regulated providers’.

Employers do not necessarily have to go with an Ofqual regulated provider, however if you choose not to there is a guidance document which can be downloaded here, which requires you to fill out five pages of due diligence when choosing your specified trainer/organisation.
