Description

This is a Level 2 National Award in Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults it is designed to provide learners with the underpinning knowledge to support their organisations in their commitment and legal obligation to safeguard vulnerable adults.

  • What is a vulnerable adult
  • What is safeguarding
  • Who are vulnerable
  • Where can abuse happen
  • Who may be the abuser
  • Define the term ‘abuse’
  • Define the terms ‘significant harm’ and ‘harm’
  • Situations when vulnerable adults may be abused at home
  • The role of the Disclosure and Barring Service

Session 2: Types of Abuse

  • The different types of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, financial, neglect, institutional, discriminatory)
  • Definition of ‘physical abuse’
  • Possible indicators of ‘physical abuse’
  • Definition of ‘sexual abuse’
  • Possible indicators of ’sexual abuse’
  • Definition of ‘emotional abuse’
  • Possible indicators of ‘emotional abuse’
  • Definition of ‘financial abuse’
  • Possible indicators of ‘financial abuse’
  • Definition of ‘neglect’
  • Possible indicators of ‘neglect’
  • Definition of ‘institutional abuse’
  • Possible indicators of ‘institutional abuse’
